ICONICS is to be renamed.
Mitsubishi Electric Corporation said on Thursday that ICONICS, Inc., its U.S.-based software subsidiary engaged in the development, marketing, and servicing of supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) software and cloud applications, will change its name to Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions, Inc. effective April 1, 2025. Additionally, three ICONICS subsidiaries located in the United Kingdom, Czech Republic, and Italy will also be renamed during April.
Based on the report, Mitsubishi Electric will leverage its Serendie digital platform to increase the expansion of ICONICS’ business as well as Mitsubishi Electric’s factory automation digital solutions business.
Mitsubishi Electric Recognized in Clarivate’s Top 100 Global Innovators for 2025
Mitsubishi Electric Corporation also announced today that it has been recognized as one of the Clarivate Top 100 Global Innovators 2025 by Clarivate Plc, a global information services company based in the United Kingdom. The company’s achievements in the field of intellectual property (IP) continue to be highly recognized, as evidenced by being named a Global Innovator for the 13th time. The company was ranked in 13th place overall this year.
Yasushi Sogabe, Corporate Executive, Senior General Manager of the Corporate Intellectual Property Division, commenting about the award, said, “We are honored to be recognized again this year. Mitsubishi Electric is integrating IP activities with business and development strategies to obtain higher-quality IP rights worldwide, in addition to collaborating on standardization activities. Furthermore, we have been engaged in external collaborative activities utilizing our IP rights since fiscal 2021. Going forward, we will continue to promote IP activities that contribute to solving challenges in the modern world.”
When was the award established?
Mitsubishi said that the award was started in 2012 and is based on patent-related data collected by Clarivate. Candidates are companies and organizations that have filed at least 500 patent applications since 2000 and have more than 100 inventions registered as patents in the five-year period between 2019 and 2023.
Four criteria such as influence, success rate, geographic investment, and rarity—are assessed to select and honor the top 100 companies worldwide each year, the report stated.
