Building the Future of Automated B2B and B2C Billing in North Africa: An Interview with the Founder of Reglo

Building the Future of Automated B2B and B2C Billing in North Africa: An Interview with the Founder of Reglo

As digital transformation accelerates across emerging markets, small businesses and independent contractors often face a critical bottleneck: outdated, manual financial operations and complex fiscal compliance. Reglo, an emerging B2B FinTech platform, is tackling this challenge by providing an all-in-one automated invoicing and financial management SaaS tailored to modern business requirements. We sat down with Amr Zine Abidine Ouazzani, the founder and CEO of Reglo to discuss the platform’s journey, its rapid market traction, and its vision for expanding into Europe’s leading tech ecosystems.

Q: Welcome! Could you tell us a bit about your background and what inspired you to create Reglo?

A: Thank you for having me. The inspiration for Reglo actually came during my business studies in France. While interacting with local freelancers, startup founders, and creators across the European ecosystem, I saw firsthand how seamless their daily operations were. They had access to an entire suite of modern SaaS tools that made administrative management, invoicing, and tracking virtually effortless.

However, when looking back at the entrepreneurial landscape in Morocco and across North Africa, the contrast was striking. Talented freelancers and fast-growing SMEs were still bogged down by manual Word and Excel templates, disconnected processes, and confusing fiscal compliance rules simply because no dedicated, localized software existed for them.

I realized that entrepreneurs in emerging markets deserved the exact same standard of digital agility and financial automation. We built Reglo to bridge this gap: giving business owners an intuitive, modern platform that eliminates billing friction and automates compliance in just a few clicks.

Q: What is the core problem Reglo solves for freelancers and SMEs today?

A: In emerging markets, over 80% of small businesses still manage their billing manually using spreadsheets or standard text editors. This leads to three major pain points:

  1. Fiscal non-compliance: Missing mandatory tax identifiers (such as local enterprise codes and VAT details) can lead to severe tax penalties and non-deductible expenses.
  2. Cash flow bottlenecks: Without automated tracking, late payments and unpaid invoices pile up without visibility.
  3. Wasted productive hours: Manually issuing, reconciling, and sending invoices takes hours that should be spent growing the business.

Reglo acts as a unified operating system for business billing. It automates compliant document generation, tracks real-time cash flow, reconciles expenses, and enables one-click accounting exports—allowing business owners to focus on what matters most: growth.

Q: How does Reglo stand out from legacy accounting software and traditional tools?

A: Most legacy accounting platforms are heavy, expensive, and require specialized accounting knowledge to operate. On the other end of the spectrum, generic templates lack automated validation and local fiscal adaptation.

Reglo bridges this gap with three core pillars:

  • Hyper-Localized Compliance: Reglo natively integrates local tax rules, sequential numbering constraints, and mandatory fiscal identifiers out of the box.
  • Modern SaaS User Experience: We designed Reglo with the speed and elegance of modern consumer apps. Setting up an account takes under two minutes, and generating a compliant invoice takes less than 30 seconds.
  • End-to-End Automation: From webhook integrations (Shopify, Whop) to automated payment tracking and expense management, everything works seamlessly in the cloud.

Q: You have built strong early traction and are now preparing for your next growth phase, including joining Station F in Paris. What does this mean for Reglo?

A: Possibly joining the Station F ecosystem could be a major strategic milestone for us. It gives us a launchpad to scale our cloud infrastructure, connect with world-class mentors, and accelerate our product roadmap.

Our initial focus has been validating product-market fit and securing early organic adoption. The feedback from our initial cohort of users has been overwhelmingly positive. Stepping into Paris allows us to bridge the North African and European markets, catering to cross-border service providers, agencies, and businesses operating across both regions.

Q: What are the next key milestones on Reglo’s roadmap for the upcoming 12 to 18 months?

A: Our roadmap focuses on three main priorities:

  1. Deepening Financial Integrations: We are expanding our integration ecosystem with payment gateways, banking APIs, and regional e-commerce workflows to automate reconciliation further.
  2. Scaling the Engineering Team: Strengthening our backend architecture to support higher transaction volumes seamlessly.
  3. Closing our Seed Funding Round: We are currently in advanced discussions with strategic business angels and early-stage funds to finalize our funding round, which will accelerate our marketing acquisition and product deployment.

Q: To conclude, what advice would you share with other founders launching SaaS products in emerging markets?

A: Fall in love with the user’s real operational pain point, not just the technology. In emerging markets, you cannot simply copy-paste a Western product; you must understand the local fiscal framework, the payment habits, and the daily workflow of your target customer. Build fast, listen closely to early customer feedback, and focus relentlessly on delivering undeniable daily value.
