In publishing, claims are easy to make. Rankings are harder to argue with. And they are much harder to keep consistent bestselling books at the very top for over a decade. 

For entrepreneur and author Marco Robinson, questions raised about his bestseller credentials can now be considered against something considerably more useful than opinion: the underlying record.

Much of the debate around Amazon bestseller status centres on categories. That distinction matters: a #1 Amazon category bestseller is not the same claim as being the single bestselling book across the entire Amazon store.

But precision cuts both ways. Robinson’s archive does not show one title appearing once in one isolated classification. The historical evidence predates START OVER entirely. An archived MPH Online “Bestsellers Non-Fiction” page, labelled “August Bestseller,” visibly lists Robinson’s Know When to Close the Deal and Suddenly Grow Rich! at #1 and Malcolm Gladwell’s Outliers at #2.

That comparison is unusually strong because both titles and both numbered positions appear together on the same retailer bestseller page. The defensible claim is not that START OVER beat Atomic Habits in that screenshot. It is that START OVER reached #2 on the same bestseller chart, immediately behind one of the best-known personal-development books of the modern era. That is meaningful context for the competitive company the title was keeping at the moment captured.

Perhaps the clearest contemporary head-to-head comparison is Amazon’s Small Business Best Sellers chart.

In the supplied screenshot, START OVER VOICES ANTHOLOGY 1 occupies the #1 position. Immediately beneath it at #2 is Alex Hormozi’s $100M Leads.

The image does not establish that START OVER VOICES has outsold $100M Leads over its lifetime. There is another part of the story that can be lost when individual rankings are viewed in isolation: START OVER developed into a multi-volume publishing series.

Amazon’s supplied listing for START OVER Volume 10 identifies it as part of a ten-book series and displays a #1 Best Seller badge in Spirituality, Abuse and Suicide. That image is a search-results comparison rather than a numbered bestseller chart, so it should not be represented as a head-to-head bestseller ranking. Its value is contextual: it shows Robinson’s title displayed ahead of Robbins’ book for that search at the captured moment.

Amazon rankings are dynamic. They can change rapidly and vary by format, marketplace, category and time. A category bestseller should therefore be reported as a category bestseller, not as the bestselling book across an entire country or the whole Amazon store.

The fair way to assess Marco Robinson’s bestseller record is neither through promotional language nor through dismissive characterisation.
