TutorExtra Links 1,000 Subjects to UK and Scottish Exam Frameworks

TutorExtra has expanded its structured mapping of more than 1,000 tuition subjects to align with the UK National Curriculum, including GCSE and A-level routes, as well as Scottish qualifications, giving parents clearer guidance when selecting tutors.

Each subject area on the platform – from core academic fields to extended study topics – is now categorised according to Key Stages 1–5 and Scottish National Qualification levels.

This structured tagging enables users to locate tutors familiar with specific exam pathways, such as AQA GCSE Biology or SQA Higher Physics. In England, the National Curriculum sets out 12 compulsory subjects at primary level and nine at secondary, with ongoing updates to encourage broader reasoning and analytical skills across subjects.

TutorExtra also includes tuition for computing, languages, arts and sports, with all listings cross-referenced to curriculum standards. When parents search for a “KS3 Science tutor,” for example, the results highlight educators with classroom training and experience in delivering hands-on science learning.

The approach is designed to support families seeking clarity on syllabus consistency, particularly ahead of 2025 curriculum enhancements that emphasise digital competency and environmental awareness. The platform’s tutor enrolment structure, which charges no listing fees, also encourages specialists in vocational and international qualifications such as BTEC and Cambridge IGCSE.

“By linking our subjects directly to the National Curriculum, we’re making it easier for parents to bridge any learning hurdles with targeted support,” said a TutorExtra spokesperson.

Users can navigate the mapped subjects through the dedicated browsing page and refine searches by qualification type and schooling stage. Since launching in 2018, TutorExtra has continued to build its national network of online and in-person tutors.
