Network and cybersecurity engineer Hina Saif has built her career around solving these challenges. Saif holds the Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE #69630) certification, one of Cisco’s most demanding networking credentials, which requires candidates to demonstrate advanced knowledge through a hands-on lab exam recognized across the global networking industry.
Her credentials also include certifications from Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks, EC-Council, Microsoft, and Cisco Enterprise, covering network security, infrastructure, firewall technologies, and cybersecurity operations. An MSc in Advanced Security and Digital Forensics from Edinburgh Napier University rounds out a technical foundation spanning network engineering and cybersecurity.
Building Solutions Beyond the Workplace
Much of enterprise engineering happens behind organizational boundaries, yet Saif has also developed technology independently and shared parts of her work with the wider technical community. One publicly available project is an open-source Intrusion Detection System (IDS) built in Python, designed to monitor network traffic, flag suspicious connection activity, support security event analysis, and visualize network security events.
Instead of remaining a private exercise, the IDS was released through GitHub, letting developers, practitioners, and learners examine the implementation and contribute to its development. The repository has drawn engagement through stars and forks and continues to evolve, with external contributions further demonstrating interaction with developers beyond Saif’s own codebase.
Developing an Identity Intelligence Platform
Saif also conceived and built Hyperion, an Identity Intelligence Platform addressing fragmented identity visibility across complex enterprise environments. Organizations increasingly manage identities across multiple systems, and while individual platforms offer administrative tools, getting a full view of identity relationships, privilege exposure, and governance gaps often requires manually correlating data across systems.
Hyperion takes a different architectural path. Rather than replacing existing identity platforms, it adds an intelligence layer that correlates fragmented identity information across sources, turning isolated records into governance and operational insight. The platform helps organizations spot inconsistent identity states, stale accounts, privilege exposure, and governance anomalies that are hard to catch when systems are reviewed separately.
Hyperion has moved beyond technical development, too. Following independent evaluations and proof-of-concept engagements, two organizations purchased the platform, offering commercial validation beyond its original build. Customers report improved operational visibility, more efficient governance reviews, less manual investigation, and better-informed security decisions. A publicly accessible version demonstrates the platform’s concepts without exposing customer data.
Hyperion’s path, from spotting an operational gap to building an architecture and reaching commercial adoption, shows Saif’s growing focus on practical solutions to identity security challenges.
Sharing Knowledge with the Technology Community
Technical expertise matters more when shared. Saif has published work exploring the relationship among information security, privacy, and governance, examining how organizations and governments balance data protection, regulatory requirements, and cybersecurity resilience.
